TPAK Teacher Quest

#TechKnowTeach

Our TPAK Teacher Quest has allowed us to explore technology, and the way it could be used in the classroom. It has provided us with tools, and given us ideas with how to use them. Entering my second teaching block with a 1:1 technology to student ratio, I am excited to incorporate some of these tools into my teaching.
I have participated in Jigsaw activities before, but this course allowed us to participate in my first online jigsaw. With this, we worked collaboratively to share ideas in a group chat, then met with our second group in person. I find sharing idea, and being able to speak with more people is can help solidify learning, and bring more ideas to the table. Moving this online can help boost student engagement, and can open more possibilities, as there is a lot you can explore online.

I also experienced growth with my online presence. Going into the Genius Hour movie trailer, and the Ted Talk, I was nervous. Being on video is not something I would willingly do. However, after creating these videos, I feel more confident, and can see that these videos can be helpful for student learning. They are something students can pause, and re-watch anywhere they have a device and an internet connection. Videos can also be more engaging, and can help relay information for more types of learners. You do not have to know how to read in order to watch, and extract information from a video.

The last experience I would like to discuss is Project-Based Learning. Project-Based Learning provides the opportunity for students to explore a concept, or idea using projects. Giving students something to apply their knowledge to makes learning more meaningful. It also provides the opportunity to further the learning.
